Convert PNG to ICNS

The macOS icon container, used for app bundles and folder icons. Like ICO it wants a square image with a transparent background; unlike ICO it holds the larger sizes a Retina display asks for.

What is PNG?

PNG is the web's lossless image format. It compresses without ever degrading the picture and has a real alpha channel, which is why screenshots, logos, line art and anything with sharp edges or text belong in it. The trade is size: on a photograph, PNG is enormous compared to JPG.

What is ICNS?

Apple's icon container, the thing inside every .app bundle that makes it look like something. Like ICO it holds a set of sizes, but it goes considerably larger - Retina displays ask for 1024px icons, which Windows never did.
