How it works

Pick the platform and the slot, then drop in a picture. Fill covers the whole slot and crops what does not fit: drag the picture to choose what stays in, and zoom up to 300% if you like. Fit keeps the whole picture and fills the space around it with a blurred copy of it or a colour you choose, which suits a wide photo going into a tall story. The download is exactly the slot's size, named after the picture and the slot (holiday-instagram-story.jpg).

The sizes

Instagram: post 1080 × 1080, portrait 1080 × 1350, story / reel 1080 × 1920; TikTok: video / photo 1080 × 1920; YouTube: thumbnail 1280 × 720, banner 2560 × 1440; X: post 1600 × 900, header 1500 × 500; Facebook: post 1200 × 630, cover 851 × 315; LinkedIn: post 1200 × 627, banner 1584 × 396; Pinterest: pin 1000 × 1500. Instagram also takes a 1080 × 1350 portrait post, which shows taller in the feed than a square one.

What the app covers

On a story, reel or TikTok, the app draws its own buttons, names and captions over the top and bottom of the picture (and the right side, on TikTok). Turn on Show what the app covers to shade those bands, and keep faces and text out of them. A YouTube banner shows only its middle 1546 × 423 on every screen; the rest is cut off on phones, so that is shaded too. The shading is only a guide and is never saved in the picture.

Questions

Are my pictures uploaded?

No. They are resized and saved in this page, on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere, and nothing is kept after you close the page.

Which format should I download?

JPG for photos: it is smaller and every app takes it. PNG for screenshots, text and graphics with flat colours, where JPG would blur sharp edges.

What if my picture is smaller than the slot?

It is enlarged to fill it, so a 640-pixel-wide photo on a 1080 × 1080 post comes out softer than the original. Nothing can add detail a picture does not have; start from the largest copy you have.
