How it works
Your letters are swapped for Unicode's bold ones: Normal letters give serif bold, ππ¨π₯π, and Sans gives the plainer bold most apps use for their own headings, ππΌπΉπ±. Digits turn bold too, πππ. Tick Italic as well for π©πππ or π½π€π‘π. Because the bold is in the letters themselves, it stays bold when pasted where you cannot choose a font.
Use it for a word, not a whole post
Instagram captions, X posts and LinkedIn posts have no bold button, so this is how a heading or one key word gets bold there. Screen readers read these letters as maths symbols or skip them, and search does not find them, so keep your real name, hashtags and links in plain letters.
Questions
Why do Γ© and Γ± stay plain?
Unicode's bold alphabet has only the 26 letters A to Z, in capitals and small letters, and the digits 0 to 9. Accented letters and punctuation are left as they are.
Do I need this in Discord?
Not in messages: Discord turns **text** bold by itself. Use this for a display name, a status or anywhere the stars stay stars.
