Laying out the page…

Write it, see it, download it

Fill in your name, headline and contact details, then each section: Experience, Education, Skills and Projects to start with, and a custom section with a heading of your own (volunteering, awards, languages) from Add section. Put bullet points one per line and skills separated by commas. The arrows move a section or an entry up and down, and an empty entry is simply left off the page. The preview is the page itself, A4 or US Letter, laid out line by line exactly as the PDF will be. Download PDF gives you the finished file with no watermark and no fee; Print sends the same pages to your printer or the browser's own Save as PDF.

A PDF a machine can read

Many employers pass resumes through an applicant tracking system (ATS) before anyone reads them, and those systems read the text inside the PDF. This one is made of real text in the standard PDF fonts, Helvetica and Times, not a picture of a page, so every word can be selected, searched and copied. The three templates keep to plain headings (Experience, Education, Skills) in one reading order: Classic is a single serif column, Modern a sans-serif column with your name and headings in an accent colour you pick, and Compact two columns, with contact details, skills and education down the side, for fitting more on one page.

Keeping your work

Your draft is kept in this browser's own storage as you type, so it is still here when you come back on the same device. Save .json downloads the whole resume as a small file you can keep, move to another computer, and open again with Load .json. Clear wipes the draft from this browser. None of it is ever sent to us or anyone else: there is no account to make and nothing to upload.

Questions

Is it really free to download?

Yes. Many resume sites let you build for free and then ask you to pay or subscribe at the download step. Here the download is the same button from the first page to the last, there is no watermark, and there is nothing to sign up for.

Why are some characters missing from my PDF?

The PDF uses the standard fonts every PDF reader has, which cover English and Western European letters, so the file stays small and ATS-readable. Accented letters like é and ñ are fine. Letters outside that set (Greek, Cyrillic, Chinese, emoji) cannot be drawn by them; accented ones are swapped for the plain letter where possible, and anything else is left out and named above the preview.

How long should a resume be?

One page is usual for students and people early in their careers, and two for most others; the page count beside the Download button tells you where you are. If you are just over, try the Compact template, trim older roles to one or two bullet points, or switch between A4 and US Letter to match where you are applying.

Can I make a CV with it?

Yes. In the UK, Ireland and much of the world a CV is what the US calls a resume. Rename any section heading to suit, and add custom sections for things like publications, languages or references.
