Hours and Minutes Calculator

Put one time on each line, written any common way, and get the total in hours and minutes and in decimal hours.

Write times as 1:30, 2h 15m, 45m or 7.5 (a number on its own is hours). Start a line with - to take it away.

Adding up a timesheet

Put one time on each line, in whatever form is handy: 1:30, 2h 15m, 45m, 90 min or 7.5. A number on its own counts as hours. Lines that cannot be read are listed by number so they can be fixed, and blank lines are skipped.

Taking time off

Start a line with a minus sign to take it away, for example -30m for an unpaid break. The total can go below zero, and is shown with a minus sign when it does.

Long totals

The total does not wrap at 24 hours: five shifts of 8:15 add up to 41h 15min, which is 41.25 decimal hours. A total of a day or more also gets a figure in days and hours.

Questions

What does 7.5 mean on its own?

Seven and a half hours, not 7 hours 50 minutes. Write 7:50 for 7 hours 50 minutes.

How do I get the hours for each day?

If you have start and end times rather than durations, work each day out on the Hours Calculator first, then put the answers here, one on each line.
