UUID Generator

A fresh version 4 UUID, or 50 of them, ready to copy.

How many

Version 4

Each UUID comes from crypto.randomUUID, your browser's secure random source. A version 4 UUID is 122 random bits written as 32 hex digits in groups of 8, 4, 4, 4 and 12; the 13th digit is always 4, and the 17th is one of 8, 9, a or b, which is how you can tell the version at a glance.

How many, and how written

Pick 1, 5, 10 or 50, one on each line, and Copy all copies the lot. Uppercase and No hyphens change how the same UUIDs are written rather than making new ones; New makes a fresh set.

Questions

Is a GUID the same thing?

Yes. GUID is Microsoft's name for a UUID. Windows tools often show them in upper case, sometimes in curly braces, which this does not add.

Can two of them ever be the same?

In theory. In practice, with 122 random bits you would need to make about 2.7 quintillion before there was an even chance of one repeat.

Can it make version 1 or version 7 UUIDs?

No, version 4 only. Version 7 starts with a timestamp so that new ones sort after old ones, which some databases prefer; this does not make those.
